This Flagstaff-based organization provides services to adults and children with disabilities, including a day program for children, residential care, and training in life skills. Abrio is looking for CCC interns who are currently pursuing coursework in the areas of health care, behavioral science or business administration.

This Phoenix-based organization works with individuals with developmental disabilities and runs an annual summer camp for its clients in Winslow. Paid internships are available to CCC interns who qualify. Students from a wide variety of major programs are needed to work as Activity Coordinators at the Summer Camp, which would include positions as an Arts & Craft Coordinator, Sport Activities Coordinator and an Animal Interaction Coordinator. A First Class Fingerprint Clearance check is needed. CCC students with learning and other disabilities are also strongly encouraged to apply for these internships, especially those students interested in pursuing careers in education.

This organization runs residential and day programs for adults with developmental disabilities. Recently, the Hozhoni Foundation has undergone tremendous changes, with new gardens added that are worked by the clients. Another amazing new feature is the Foundation's Art Gallery which features artwork for sale that was created by the clients themselves, under the tutelage of Art Instructors. CCC students who apply for Direct Care positions, as paid interns, should have a background in the following academic areas: Psychology, Nursing or other Medical fields, Sociology, Pre-Social Work and Fine Arts.

The Museum of Northern Arizona Discovery Program seeks an enthusiastic, motivated and organized individual for a Discover 2008 Internship to coordinate education programs for youth. The following internships are offered as required college courses, which are part of the Public Safety, Law, and Allied Health degree programs. All applications and questions pertaining to these internships must be directed to the above CCC department. Contact information is below.
These internships are usually done with a selected law enforcement agency, and can incorporate a number of duties, depending on the program emphasis. Most of these internships require a full background investigation and polygraph prior to placement. Must be approved by the Department Chair. All of these internships require the completion of most of the course of study within the program area.
These internships are usually done in the Medical Office Assistant AAS program and are done at local healthcare facilities as well as physicians’ offices. The student is placed through the Allied Health Instructor and the Department Chair. All of the courses within the program of study must be complete prior to internship placement. Special circumstances involving internship placement in certain certificate programs may apply.
Fire Science Internships are available to students completing the Fire Science AAS Degree and are organized with the Fire Science Coordinator and Department Chair. These internships are done with local Fire Service agencies and the U.S. government agencies throughout Northern Arizona. Prior approval and physical fitness standards may apply.
Other internships and clinical experiences are included throughout Public Safety, Law, and Allied Health. Consult with the Department Chair for additional information.

This federal government institution, home to scientists exploring the geology of the planet Mars in the Astrogeology Department, is located right here in Flagstaff! USGS has two basic internship programs:
1) The Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP) offers jobs to students on a temporary basis (e.g., over the summer), with duties at USGS that do not have to relate to the student's area of study. Students in this program cannot convert to permanent positions with USGS.
2) The Student Career Experience Program or (SCEP) offers valuable work experience that is directly related to the student's academic area of study. The program provides formal periods of work and study while students are attending school. A student in this program could find themselves earning noncompetitive conversion to permanent employment after successful completion of education and 640 hours of related work experience. Here are examples of student trainee positions: Administrative Management; Information Technology-Internet, Programming, Processing; Biology; Cartography/Geography/Physical Science; Civil Engineering and Hydrology.

Job Description:Duties include stereo viewing of digital images to edit digital elevation models (DEMs) on a photogrammetric workstation. Training will be provided on editing on the photogrammetric workstation. This task will require the student to evaluate the quality of the DEM and to make adjustments to improve the quality. The student shall report errors, problems, or areas of questionable quality to a supervisor.
Qualifications:
- STUDENT MUST HAVE (2) TWO YEARS OF COLLEGE EDUCATION.
- IF SELECTED, STUDENT WILL NEED TO OBTAIN STUDENT VERIFICATION AND OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS.
- The ability to view digital stereo images and manual dexterity to reach and use a three (3) button computer mouse and a twelve (12) button topography editing mouse with a fly wheel is required.
- A minimum of one year of computer experience (PC, MAC, UNIX, and/or LINUX) is required. The computer experience must include the ability to open a computer program, navigate through a series of computer menus in a graphical user interface and select programs or options from sub-menus. Some computer programs are command line driven so experience with typing in a command line that has the name of the computer program, input, and output files is desirable

General Description: The U. S. Geological SurveyAstrogeology Research Program is actively involved in NASA flightmissions including, but not limited to, Mars Global Surveyor, Mars Odyssey, Mars Exploration Rovers and Cassini (Saturn). In support of our expert scientific staff, our technical staff develops sophisticated software systems and applications for the generation and production of planetary cartographic maps and scientific analysis of NASA flight missions. This student contract is for assistance in applying a wide range of computer science and programming skills to assist in the development of computer software and support the IT staff in completion of their duties related to these objectives.
Description of Work: The student will be expected to perform a variety of computer-based tasks, in addition to some general clerical and support duties. These duties will include writing Unix shell scripts that run various software applications, writing and/or modifying existing software applications written in C++, C and Java, executing scientific applications and generating accurate and thorough documentation. The student may be asked to create and maintain databases and database applications, create access methods to these data using HTML, Java or other web-based tools, and assist in the porting of software to various computer platforms including Solaris, Linux and Mac OS X. The student will work directly with project scientists and IT staff and receive general guidance from senior level IT and/or science staff members.
Required expertise/skills: The student is required to have at least one year of experience in the Unix computing environment. The student will be required to have a general knowledge of the Windows-based environment. Programming experience in one or more ofthe Unix shells, PERL, C++, C, Java and/or FORTRAN are highly desirable. The student will need to be task-oriented and well organized. Thorough documentation of procedures used and applied to perform the work will be requested. All data and production material will remain the property of the USGS.
Compensation: These positions are part-time, maximum 20 hours per week when school is in session and full-time, maximum 40hours per week when school is not in session. The contracts may be extended based upon the needs of the Astrogeology Research Program.Compensation will be $13.06 per hour.
General Description: The USGS Astrogeology Team is involved in numerous NASA spaceflight missions for the study of the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Saturn, and other solar system bodies. This support includes scientific research, mission planning, software development, data processing, and data dissemination.
Our Information Technology staff provides team support for Windows, Linux and Macintosh operating systems, hardware troubleshooting, system installation, network infrastructure, printer maintenance, and other standard IT related duties.
Description of Work: The Helpdesk is a single point of contact for all of our information technology-related problems or questions. You will be responsible for customer support for desktop computers, which are used to process scientific and administrative data. Work includes user assistance with common desktop software programs, trouble shooting desktop hardware, hardware installation, software installation, inventory control, documentation, and other miscellaneous IT related duties as assigned.
Required expertise/skills: The student contractor will be required to have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Presenting themselves with a pleasant demeanor and as responsive to customer needs is an important hiring criteria.
You will be required to have Windows or Linux operating system experience at the user level. Installation of hardware and/or software components while not required is highly desirable.
Strong writing skills are required as documentation is an integral element of IT helpdesk support. Experience using HTML, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and other tools are desirable.
The student must take and pass the Department of Interior (DOI) end-user computer security awareness training prior to being granted access to DOI data or being issued a user account
Compensation: The position is part-time, maximum 20 hours per week, when school is in session and full-time, maximum 40 hours per week, when school is not in session. Compensation is $11.85 to $13.29 per hour based upon experience. The length of the contract will not exceed two years.
